Happy Mother’s Day

Here in the UK, it’s Mothering Sunday today – otherwise more commonly known as Mother’s Day. I’m currently laying on the sofa, catching up on some tele, with a belly full of Harvester breakfast. For anyone that doesn’t know what Harvester is – it’s a restaurant with pub style food that are very very popular in the UK, but they do breakfasts too & because it’s Mother’s Day I treated Mum to breakfast this morning 🙂

Mum said to me while we were sitting at the table this morning, “This time next year you may not even be here, god known where you’ll be”. It still doesn’t feel real to me that soon I’ll be flying around the world & not knowing where I’m going to be for poignant things in the year like Mother’s Day or Christmas, & it’s only when someone says something that I realise! It made me think of all you guys & girls flying around the world, especially the ones from the UK..

.. I know it can be so easy to forget what time of the day it is at home when you are somewhere else in the world – I had to keep track of it all when I was sailing for 6 months back in 2016; remembering birthdays, anniversaries, weddings etc. If you haven’t already, make sure you text or call your Mum today, just to let her know you’re thinking of her, even if you haven’t had a chance to buy her flowers.. she will appreciate it!

I’m aware there are some Mum’s that work in the sky too – I follow some of your gorgeous ladies on Instagram & I know there are a few Mum & daughter duo’s in the sky too – that’s something special that you girls share with each other! 🙂 Mum’s, please know you’re doing something amazing.. you’re living your life whilst providing a life for the ones you love, & they couldn’t be any more proud of you.. promise!

Mother’s Day is always a very special one for me because my Mum is very special. We’ve been by ourselves since I was 4 years old, so we’ve got a very close bond, & before you ask, yes.. that will make it hard for me to leave her, but I’ve done it before so I can do it again! I won’t be very far away, not really, especially with all the social media & communication facilities like Skype, FaceTime etc we have now.

Please tell me I am not the only person that thinks these two images are extremely true when it comes to living away from home? My Mum LOVES to prove when she’s right in any situation in life – whether or not I admit she’s right is a different story haha – but, they do definitely always know best (unfortunately!).

Whether you’re living away from home now you’re flying or whether you’re commuting from home.. whether you’re in the UK & it’s Mother’s Day, or you’re somewhere else in the world & yours is a different day.. let your Mum know you love her and appreciate her today – after all, we only get one Mum right?

Happy Sunday x
